At Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2026, Etihad unveiled Etihad Escapes, a platform that takes the airline’s experience beyond the flight. Juniper provides the technology infrastructure that makes it possible.

On 15 September at ATM Dubai, Etihad Airways unveiled Etihad Escapes, its new travel platform, and signed the agreement that makes Juniper its technology partner. For Juniper, this is a milestone: supporting one of the world’s leading airlines as it moves towards a fully integrated travel model.

What is Etihad Escapes?

Etihad Escapes has a clear goal: to let travellers plan and book more and more of their trip in one place. In other words, they no longer need to jump between platforms.

The platform is set to launch in October. In this first phase, guests with a flight booking will be able to add accommodation directly through Etihad.com. From there, it will expand progressively through 2027. First, guests will be able to search and book hotels on their own. Then, they will be able to combine flights and hotels in a single booking journey. Later, the platform will extend into the Etihad app. It will also bring greater personalisation and integration with the Etihad Guest loyalty programme. In addition, guests will have access to a wider range of travel experiences and ancillary services.

Juniper’s role

Etihad is developing the platform through a combination of its own capabilities and strategic partnerships. Within this approach, Juniper provides the technology infrastructure on which it is built. Over time, Etihad also plans to add further suppliers and partners as Etihad Escapes grows.

An opportunity beyond the flight

The global holiday market is valued at approximately $2.7 trillion. In addition, it is forecast to grow at 6.5% a year to 2030. Moreover, a significant share of travel spend takes place beyond the flight. Etihad Escapes will therefore allow the airline to capture more of that journey and open up new revenue streams. At the same time, it will support Abu Dhabi’s tourism ambitions for 2030. These include welcoming 39.3 million visitors and generating AED 90 billion in tourism GDP.

What this means for Juniper

This agreement is an important step in Juniper’s strategy of helping airlines sell beyond the ticket. Hotels are the starting point. Specifically, when booking their flight on Etihad.com, guests will be able to add accommodation to their trip. Furthermore, the whole process takes place within an integrated, Etihad-branded experience.

Juniper provides the technology that makes this possible. On the one hand, it brings a broad hotel offering connected to Etihad’s booking flow. On the other hand, it provides a platform ready to incorporate new travel products in the future. In fact, this is the same model Juniper offers to airlines and other industry players. All of them aim to turn every booking into an additional revenue opportunity.

“Airlines have a unique opportunity to be part of their guests’ entire journey, and Etihad is showing this with great ambition. Juniper is proud to be their technology partner on this project and to grow alongside them through every phase of Etihad Escapes.”
